Multimodal Therapy for Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors with Multiple Liver Metastases - Two Case Reports
Complete surgical resection remains the only curative treatment option for pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (PNET). However, the proper management of PNET with liver metastasis remains debatable. We describe two patients with PNET and multiple liver metastases that were treated with aggressive surgical resection. In one case, a 45-year-old man with non-functional PNET with unresectable liver met...

A preponderance of patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) will experience hepatic metastases during the course of their disease. Many diagnoses of NETs are made only after the neoplasms have spread from their primary gastroenteropancreatic sites to the liver. This paper reviews current evidence-based treatments for neuroendocrine hepatic metastases, encompassing surgery, hepatic artery embo...
متن کاملMultimodal Treatment of Vasoactive Intestinal Polypeptide-producing Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors with Liver Metastases
A 53-year-old man presented with diarrhoea and hypokalaemia and was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour of unknown origin with multiple liver metastases. Somatostatin analogues led to a reduction in the size of the tumours and improvement of his symptoms. However, after several years, the tumours grew in size, and the patient's clinical symptoms recurred. The patient underwent transcatheter ...
متن کاملHepatic parenchymal preserving technique in the management of diffuse bilateral neuroendocrine tumour liver metastases: a feasible approach.
BACKGROUND Aggressive surgical resection of neuroendocrine tumour liver metastases (NET-LM) is associated with symptomatic relief. Debulking up to 90% of tumour burden, even with positive margins, may be beneficial. However, patients with diffuse hepatic metastases may not qualify for resection owing to associated insufficient remnant liver parenchyma. The purpose of this study is to describe a...
